Horse Shoe Manufacturer

The Challenge

Our client, a horse shoe manufacturer was founded in 1971 by a Master Farrier and harness racing trainer. In 2001 they joined and international manufacturing group with the business continuing to have the involvement of the founder and his son as General Manager. Today the horse shoes are manufactured in regional Victoria and are marketed across the globe.

After completing a business review under the Federal Government’s Enterprise Connect Program, Phalanx Consulting was engaged to work with management and employees to identify OH&S business risks and implement business systems that would comply with Victorian OH&S legislation.

Our Solution

An audit was conducted to assess current processes and a report identifying the following was developed:
  • OH&S management system status;
  • Gap analysis and systems required;
  • Implementation and project plan; and
  • Documentation of OH&S management systems required to provide control measures to maintain compliance.

Results Delivered

We worked directly with the business’s management and staff to develop and implement all facets of their OH&S system:
  • Management and employee representatives completed OH&S training;
  • Identified workplace risks were reduced including machine guarding and control measures implemented;
  • Regular OH&S Safety Committee meetings were implemented; and
  • Documented OH&S policies and procedures were put in place with full employee induction.

Testimonial

"Phalanx Consulting was very thorough and knowledgeable in its approach to this assignment. When the Worksafe Inspector visited the site we had everything that the Inspector requested. Only one PIN notice was issued on an issue that had already been identified in a risk assessment which we had already planned to rectify."
