The Challenge
Our client, an independent olive grower was going through a period of rapid expansion. With increasing client demands and rising expenses the business did not have the time of resources to review processes and procedures to match the business needs.
Challenges facing the business included:
- Leadership and decision making processes failing;
- Reporting and financial system frameworks inadequate; and
- Dependence on antiquated inventory and production tracking technologies.
Our Solution
An initial review of the business was undertaken by Phalanx Consulting using our Strategic Business Profiler to ensure all issues faced were recognised. It was determined that the purchase and implementation of an Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) software package was needed. This system would enable our client to integrate the management of production and inventory with up-to-date business reports and financial management.
Phalanx undertook a review of available ERP systems and developed a cost feasibility analysis to ensure the most relevant package was recommended. On-going user support and training at implementation were also key factors to ensure our client received the maximum benefit from the system upgrade.
Phalanx assisted the business integrate the new system with their existing accounting and other IT infrastructure.
Outcome
The system selected was the best fit for the business whilst providing a significant saving when compared to alternate systems available. The management and staff now had a streamlined system that provided:
- Visibility and tracking of all raw material through to end product;
- Improved quoting and lead-time forecasting therefore improving customer service;
- A single source inventory and order management system integrated with finance reporting; and
- Financial systems which aid management planning and decision making, including:
- Debtor management;
- Improved expense controls and a systemised payroll;
- Budgeting and forecasting ability;
- Diagnostic report cards; and
- Compliance with Government regulations.
